Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H)

[Taken from Introduction to Islam by Muhammad Hamidullah (Centre Culturel Islamique, Paris, 1969), with some changes to make it more readable. The changes are marked by pairs of brackets like around this paragraph. Dr. Hamidullah's present address is: 9 Beaver Court, Wilkes Barre PA, 18702, USA.]

IN the annals of men, individuals have not been lacking who conspicuously devoted their lives to the socio-religious reform of their connected peoples. We find them in every epoch and in all lands. In India, there lived those who transmitted to the world the Vedas, and there was also the great Gautama Buddha; China had its Confucius; the Avesta was produced in Iran. Babylonia gave to the world one of the greatest reformers, the Prophet Abraham (not to speak of such of his ancestors as Enoch and Noah about whom we have very scanty information). The Jewish people may rightly be proud of a long series of reformers: Moses, Samuel, David, Solomon, and Jesus among others.

2. Two points are to note: Firstly these reformers claimed in general to be the bearers each of a Divine mission, and they left behind them sacred books incorporating codes of life for the guidance of their peoples. Secondly there followed fratricidal wars, and massacres and genocides became the order of the day, causing more or less a complete loss of these Divine messages. As to the books of Abraham, we know them only by the name; and as for the books of Moses, records tell us how they were repeatedly destroyed and only partly restored.

Rights and Care of Animals - Islamic Stories

A man once came to Prophet Muhammad (s) carrying with him his belongings and a box. He said, "O Prophet! While I was passing through a jungle, I heard the voice of some bird's babies. I took them and put them in this box. The moment I did that, their mother came fluttering round my head."

And the Prophet said, "Put them down". When the man put the box on the ground, the mother of the young birds joined them. Seeing this, the Prophet asked the man who now had a look of surprise on his face, "Are you surprised by the affection of the mother towards her young? I swear by Him (Almighty Allah) who has sent me, surely, God is more loving to his servants than the mother to these young birds. Return these baby birds to the place from where you took them, and let their mother be with them."

"Fear God with regard to animals", said the Prophet of Islam, "ride them when they are fit to be ridden, and get off their backs when they are tired; surely, there are rewards for being kind and gentle to animals, and for giving them water to drink."

Islam has taught that in the eyes of Allah, animals also have rights in the same way as man has. They should not be treated badly, tortured or left to starve without food or water.

Imam Ali (a) had some ducks under his care in his house. At the time of his death, he had given particular advice to his sons to take good care of those animals, or to set them free if it was not possible to look after them properly.

The Holy Qur'an has also guided us by telling us that, in the eyes of God there is no difference between the human world and the animal world.

"There is no beast on earth, nor bird which flieth with its wings, but they are nations like you - unto the Lord shall they return".
The Prophet of Islam was once performing ablution (Wudhu) for prayers from a pot of water. A cat passed there and turned its eyes at the pot of water with a thirsty look. The Prophet realised at once that the cat was very thirsty, so he stopped the ablution (Wudhu) and placed the pot before the cat.

Only after the cat had fully quenched its thirst, did the Prophet resume the ablution (Wudhu). By this action, the Prophet has shown that quenching the thirst of even a small dumb animal is a noble act full of virtue and should be given first attention before one prepares for offering prayers to God.

99 Names Of Allah - Ar Rehman - All Compassionate

Ar Rehman
All Compassionate

The Most Gracious has imparted this Quran unto man. He has created man: He has impaired unto him articulate thought and speech. At his behest the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; before Him prostrate themselves the stars and the trees.
And the skies has He raised high, and his devised for all things a measure, so that you too, O men, might never transgress the measure of what is right: weight, therefore, your deeds with equity, and cut not the measure short! and the earth has He spread out for all living beings, with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters of dates, and grain growing tall on its stalk, and sweet-smelling plants.
Which then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow?

Love in Islam

Coming from a Western or European background, we often equate love with the stereotypical images that we see in all forms of media. The pouting woman waiting breathlessly at home for husband to appear to “love her,” alternatively the career woman who throws off the shackles of the workforce to return breathlessly home to her waiting husband. Sex sells, and the print and visual media take advantage of this fact. Sex sells, and businesses in all corners of the world will do anything to make an extra dollar. Sex is not love, and the word ‘love’ has, unfortunately, lost much of its true meaning.

We drive to work past the giant billboards selling cars and clothes and laundry detergent. The billboards all have one thing in common a pouting woman who says with smoldering eyes “drive this car and attract women like me”; “wear this brand of clothes and women will want you more then the clothes.” We open the newspaper to see advertisements for exotic destinations; the people appear to be happy and “in love.” The television and movie screens tell us that if you consume this product you will be desirable, your husband or wife will “love you.” Drink brand X and fall in love, wear brand Y and have all fall in love with you.

This is not love, this is an advertising ploy. Marriages fall by the wayside because husbands and wives find that they cannot live up to the expectations that they impose on themselves and each other. The images are impossible to emulate simply because they are not real; they come from the minds of advertising executives, not from the natural order of our lives. Our senses are assaulted almost every waking moment by images of what the media feeds to us as a normal lifestyle. These images are not normal, and the lifestyles that they portray are in no way a reflection of how men and woman should live together in a normal, healthy relationship.

Islam, on the other hand, being the natural way for human beings to live, employs no trickery or gimmicks. Love in Islam brings men and woman together with strong bonds that tie couples together with the rope of Islam. [And hold fast all of you together, to the rope of Allah (i.e., this Qur’an), and be not divided among your selves, and remember Allahs favour on you] (Aal `Imran 3:103). A marriage based firmly and soundly on the Qur’an and the Sunnah should suffer none of the pangs of insecurity and subterfuge that abound in marriages whose role models are the pouting woman and muscle bound man found in all forms of media. Marriage in Islam is a contract between two people, a man and a woman, by which they agree to enter into a [halal] relationship for the sake of Allah Most High.

It is a relationship that binds them to each other through all the tests and trials of this life, through hardship and ease. [Verily along with every hardship is relief] (Ash-Sharh 94:6). It should be a relationship whose sole purpose is to worship, praise, and thank Allah Most High. If love—the tender blissful feeling of being in love—is present in this relationship, then it is an extra blessing from Allah.

Marriage in Islam is not based on whether we find our partner desirable or whether he or she contributes a great deal of money to the family. Marriage in Islam is a partnership. Two people, working as one unit. One unit striving for Jannah, longing to secure themselves a place in the shade of Allah. Love in Islam is a [halal] marriage secure in the knowledge that the wealth and adornments of this world are but illusions and that it is in the Hereafter that our real lives will begin.

[And the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the house in the hereafter for those that are al-muttaqun (the pious). Will you not then understand?] (Al-An`Am 6:32)

If we examine our thoughts on love and marriage and endeavor to renew our intentions to have a marriage for the sake of Allah Most High, we will, [in sha’ Allah], find that we are no longer blinded by the subtle advertising that invades our lives and eats away at our [iman]. Shaytan (Satan) works in devious and treacherous ways and loves nothing more then to put enmity between a husband and wife. His work is made easier by the fact that we are so easily deceived. Before we realize what is happening, the seeds of destruction have grown into an evil tree.

We begin to think and worry because our marriages are not what we see on the television or read about in the latest release novels. Our minds are invaded with thoughts that are contrary to the natural order of Islam and the universe, and our insecurities lead us to long for unattainable and unnecessary ideals in our lives and marriages. We have grown complacent in our commitment to our marriages and to our Islam, where as Shaytan is ever watchful and eager to guide us to the path that leads to nowhere but eternal Hellfire.

A marriage in Islam is about more than ‘love’; love in Islam is about more than tender feelings and smoldering sexual desires.

Through our commitment to Islam we should be able to return to an era where love and marriage are synonymous. Where a marriage is a partnership, a bonding of two people that, like ripples on water, moves ever steadily outwards to encompass the ideals of an Islamic community. The bonds of marriage should tie us to each other, to our families and children, to our brothers and sisters in Islam, to the worldwide Ummah. If we put our love for Allah first and our own desires last, then we should find ourselves in a relationship that no longer falls prey to the subterfuge of Shaytan. We should cling tightly to the rope of Islam and recognize the fact that life is not always sunshine and roses but that this [dunya] is a place of testing and tribulations. [Do people think they will be left alone because they say: “We believe,” and will not be tested] (Al-`Ankabut 29:2). We should bear our tests with patience and gratitude, take refuge with Allah, and take comfort in the arms of our spouses.

[And We will most certainly try you with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give good news to the patient, Who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are Allah's and to Him we shall surely return. Those are they on whom are blessings and mercy from their Lord, and those are the followers of the right course.] (Al-Baqarah 2:155–157)

Syed Fasihuddin Soharwardy - Biography Overview

Mohotaram Syed Fashih Ud din Soharwardi is a world renowned Naat Khwan. He is not only admired in Pakistan but anywhere in the world where Muslims live. Having recited more than 5000 Naats and almost 160 cassettes, CDs and DVDs, he is one of the most listened and liked Naat Khwans of the world. He has traveled to more than 17 countries and has captivated the people with his charismatic God gifted voice. The spiritual height of pleasure he experiences while performing Naat, the audience can’t remain affected as well. This is the reason why people in large number attend Naat programs wherever he is performing.

Personality, Education & brought up
I was born on June 15, 1957 in Karachi. I did my Matriculation from Govt. Secondary School Jail road, BA from Islamia College, LLB from Urdu Law College and then acquired private MA in journalism. I participated in various Inter collegiate Naat programs and also on TV. I made first appearance on TV in “Nelaam Ghar” program on PTV. I had developed an intense interest in Naat Khwani that I couldn’t excel further in journalism field.

Naat Profile
According to an estimate more than 5000 Naat’s I’ve recited so far and 160 volumes have been released. 59 In Pakistan, 62 In England, 35 in Mauritius and some were released in Holland, Canada, America and Norway. So around 160 volumes have been released so far around the world. The most popular Naat of mine is from my first volume released in Pakistan that is, “Hum faqeeron ko Madeenay ki gaali achi lagi”. My personal favorite Naat is ‘Aey Ishq-e-Nabi meray dil mai bhi sama ja”. Whenever I recite this Naat I feel utmost spiritual pleasure.
My Naats are available in 4 languages of Urdu, Punjabi, Persian and Arabic I have also experienced a little in Saraiki language.

Naat Khwani and Qirat
I have traveled to 17 countries around the world. Despites, In Africa where Pakistanis are meager in population, people come to listen to Naats instead of going to listen to speeches. In America, Canada and Europe Naat Khwani is getting popular amongst Muslims and even non-Muslims. While reciting Naat you have to present Naat without any musical instrument, it is only your voice that attracts people. This is also a reason why people attend Naat programs in foreign countries. In Mauritius, Hindus came to listen to my Naats and in Canada Sikhs specially invited me to listen to Hazrat Sultan Baho’s Kalam. Many people have actually converted to Islam after listening to Naats and Qirats.

Naat Narration as a Profession
I have dedicated myself to Naat Khwani 24 hours a day and I surely get something that is why I am still associated with it. I can easily earn reasonable bread & butter for my family. But I never demand from anyone; whatever they give I keep. If anyone wants to adopt Naat Khwani, my suggestion for him would be that don’t demand yourself, Allah will keep bestowing on you due to the blessing of Naat Khwani. The blessings of Naat Khwani are too much that you don’t need to worry about anything, just fully devote yourself to Naat Khwani by heart & soul.

Naat Types
There are two kinds of Naats. One is about paying compliments to the personality of Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallaho Alaihi wasallam) and other one is about some requests to Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallaho Alaihi wasallam).

Achievements
Plenty of awards I have gotten so far from all over the world. From PTV, I have recently been awarded with National PTV Award. Lately Canadian Parliament presented me a certificate of best Naat Khwani. Canadian Islamic Foundation also presented me the award of “Ittehad-e-Ban Ul Muslemeen” and loads of other laurels and awards have been given to me in South Africa, USA, Mauritius and England etc. Alhamdulillah.

Who is good Naat Khawan
The fore-most thing is the heart connection of Naat Khwan with Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallaho Alaihi wasallam). I have listened to many Naat Khwans who have beautiful voices but they were unable to leave the impression on heart. First of all Naat Khwan must be a good Muslim, should follow Islam as Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallaho Alaihi wasallam) has explained then he can leave an impact on the hearts of audience.

Interesting Incident
Once I was getting recorded a Naat written by Saba Akbar Abadi at PTV. We kept recording this 5-minute Naat for 2 hours to get the finished Naat. When I was getting recorded for the last time a fly entered into my mouth. I was tired too much of recording that I ate that fly and finished the recording (laughingly). This Naat also became popular and kept running on PTV for long.

Future Plans
I am going to UK for recording very soon then I’ll leave for Mauritius for the same. Some Naat programs are also arranged there. Recently I have gotten recorded a 3-hour DVD in Canada in which not only Naats but my interview, Azan, procedure of prayers and lots of other things about religion are also included in the DVD.

Pakistani audience and foreign audience
Wherever I go in the world mostly Pakistani community comes to listen to me. In Canada there’s a Victoria Island where I was invited lately. There were Pakistanis as well as Arabic nationals. So I recited Naat in Arabic also. Sometimes I also have to perform Naats in Persian if the audience only understands Persian language.

When he went away to college, I had nobody to sing for my guitar
playing, so I sang myself. In 1984, I came across 4,5 people who were
all guitarists and one keyboardist. We pulled lots to see who would
sing and my name came up. Then, the Knights took me in as a second
vocalist, because I knew the keyboardist, Asif Ali. We did songs by

known all over Islamabad as the Careless Whispers guy.

I forget things very easily. Sometimes I commit things without actually
thinking whether I would be able to fulfill them. I’m very gullible.
FAVORITE MUSIC: These days, I like the new rave music out there, the
90s’ music. In fact, I like it more than the music in the 80s’ and
70’s. I like Seal, Cranberries, Sting, his new sound, Enya. I like
Black Sabbath. I love Tony Iommi’s guitar playing. I like Deep Purple,
BeeGees, Bread, Steele Dan, Super Tramp, Toto, Alan Parson, Pink Floyd,
Inxs. I’ve never liked U2, and I hate Air Supply.

Fantasy: I wanted to be a secret agent, like the CIA.

My Last Words:
He is the best naatkhawan. He has left his music career for the happiness of ALLAH. I also pray to ALLAH for the right path in my life.

Audio Naat Formats - MP3 - WMA - WAV

I have observed many questions from naat users i.e

What is the best format for naat ?
Is naat in mp3 format best ?
What is the differance between mp3 and other formats ?

So i thought to write a little blog about best choice of naat formats. First of all we must have an idea about different popular audio formats.

What is MP3 ?
The name of the file extension and also the name of the type of file for MPEG , audio layer 3. Layer 3 is one of three coding schemes (layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3) for the compression of audio signals.

Because MP3 files are small, they can easily be transferred across the Internet and this is the biggest advantage of MP3

What is WMA ?
WMA is an audio file format developed by Microsoft (www.microsoft.com), the maker of Windows Media Player. It may not be as popular as MP3, but it is still supported by a vast number of players and jukeboxes, including Winamp, Sonique, MusicMatch and J. River's Media Jukebox.

What is WAV ?
Waveform Audio (.wav) is a common file format. Created by Microsoft and IBM, WAV was one of the first audio file types developed for the PC. WAV files are defined as lossless, meaning that files are large and complete; nothing has been lost. Professionally recorded CDs are also a lossless audio source.

Now naat users can easily decide the best naat format. I personally like naats in mp3 format as mp3 files are about one-twelfth the size of orignal file. This is why MP3 players can accommodate hundreds of songs on a tiny chunk of storage space.

Umme Habiba

Umme Habiba is amongest the pioneer naat khawans who started to express feelings about prophet Hazrat Muhammad SAW. She did Naatkhawani very beautifully. Her some famous naats are :

* Aey noor e mujassim
* Gul as rafat amokhta
* Gull as ru khatta
* Ishq ko hussan kay andaaz sikha loin tu challoin
* Kabbay pay parri jabb pehli nazar
* Madinay ka safar hai aur mein namdida namdida
* Naat Mehboobe-e-Rabe do jahan
* Mustafa Mujtaba Marhaba
* Nabi Nabi Nabi Nabi
* Tum par mein lakh jaan say quraban ya Rasool
* Zinda jab tak rahoin

These are no doubt beautiful naats narrated by umme habiba. According to my personal opinion, She narrated all naats with the best of her simplicity.

Downlod her complete naats.

He has traveled to many countries of the world spreading the message of Islam and love for the Holy Prophet including England, Dubai, Iraq, Iran, India, Hijaz-e-Muqaddas South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi, Kenya, Syria etc.

Owais Qadri's services for promoting naats were recently acknowledged by the Government of Pakistan when he was given the award of Best Naat Khawan in 2007.

There are no formalities for the bookings of Mehfil-e-Naat, however, privilege is given to areas where something could be done to promote Islam.

Regarding his future plans, Owais Qadri states that he will continue reciting naats and work for getting people back to the path of Sala'at-o-Sunnat. Muhammad Owais Raza Qadri advises new naat khawans that Naat Khawani is Ibaadat and before reciting any naat essential knowledge should be collected about it and special care should be taken to ensure that it is not objectionable by Islamic Shariah. It is best to check all naats with a learned scholar. Furthermore, they should restrain from such acts which can be criticized by others. They should be true and practical Muslims, i.e. not that talking about love for the Holy Prophet and murdering the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet by shaving off the beard and not showing regularity in daily prayers.

Addressing the young generation, Muhammad Owais Raza Qadri remarks that undoubtedly success lies within the fact that we must walk on the path guided to us by Allah Rabb-ul Aalameen and the Holy Prophet , leave the way of strangers and always believe in death. Acquire adequate knowledge of Islam and recite at least one Ruku of the Holy Quran (Kanzul Eemaan) with translation.
